What is the mission of the church, and what does it mean to join Jesus in His work of bringing souls to eternal life?
In John 4:31β38, Jesus tells His disciples that His food is to do the will of the Father and accomplish His work. While the disciples are concerned about physical food, Jesus directs their attention to a spiritual harvest already taking place.
In this sermon, we explore two important truths:
πΎ Christ’s Food β Accomplishing the Father’s Will
Jesus’ greatest desire was to fulfill His Father’s saving purpose. Through His suffering, death, and resurrection, He accomplished the work of salvation and demonstrated His extraordinary love for His people.
πΎ Christ’s Fruit β Gathering People for Eternal Life
Jesus invites His followers to participate in the harvest He has prepared. Though sharing the gospel can involve hardship, discouragement, and tears, we can rejoice knowing that God Himself gives the growth.
We are reminded that our mission is not to rely on our own strength, but to faithfully proclaim Christ, serve others in love, and trust Him with the results. Whether we sow or reap, we have the privilege of joining Jesus in His work and rejoicing together in the harvest of souls.
